5 Barers and 4 Amahs, - The Acting Principal Civil Medical Officer stated that these servants were absolutely necessary and on his recommendation provision has been made in the Estimates for 5 nurses at $144 per annum and 4 amahs at $144.

X Ray Apparatus. - The Acting Principal Civil Medical Officer recommended that an X Ray apparatus should be obtained at a cost of $800, for which the best instrument at present made can be purchased. It is obvious that every properly equipped hospital should be provided with such an instrument.

Microscope. On the recommendation of the Acting Principal Civil Medical Officer a microscope has been purchased through the Crown Agents for the Colonies at a cost of £15. 17s. 6d. for use in malarial and bacteriological research.

Lunatic Asylum,- Light and Fuel Allowance, see (1). There has been a reduction of one European Wardmaster as the post of Assistant Wardmaster is abolished.
